Huxley, 30, was named by Brumbies’ coach Andy Friend among the replacements for Friday’s home match against New Zealand’s Waikato Chiefs.
Huxley’s career was put on hold in 2008 after routine scans following a head knock detected a brain tumour.
He received a clearance to resume playing three weeks ago and proved his fitness with two matches for the Brumbies’ reserve team.
"It was something I always thought I could do but didn’t know if it would happen," Huxley said.
"The day has come and it seems the last two years have gone like a flash and I’m back there."
Huxley, who had surgery to remove a benign brain tumour, said he never gave up on making a return to the playing field.
"There were certainly a lot of people who said, ‘maybe it’s time to move on’ but it was never based around any sort of fact with regards to the safety of it.
"Life’s too short to worry too much about the future and you have to do what you want to do today within reason."
Huxley said he had hopes of adding to his six Wallabies’ caps earned in 2007.
